What is dulaglutide approved to treat?

Dulaglutide, sold as Trulicity, is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults and pediatric patients 10 years of age and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors [1]. It is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 [1].

How is dulaglutide dosed?

Trulicity is injected subcutaneously once weekly from a single-dose pen [1]. The starting dose is 0.75 mg once weekly, and the dose can be increased up to a maximum of 4.5 mg once weekly [1]. It's supplied in four strengths — 0.75 mg, 1.5 mg, 3 mg, and 4.5 mg per 0.5 mL — each in its own single-dose pen [1].
