What is most-favored-nation drug pricing?
Most-favored-nation pricing refers to a policy aiming to bring American drug prices in line with those paid by similar nations. On November 6, 2025, the White House announced agreements with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk applying this approach to GLP-1 medications sold through TrumpRx and to Medicare.
What did the November 2025 announcement say?
The White House fact sheet describes most-favored-nation pricing as bringing "American drug prices in line with those paid by similar nations" [1]. Under agreements with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, it announced Wegovy falling from $1,350 to $350 a month through TrumpRx, Ozempic from $1,000 to $350, and Zepbound and orforglipron from $1,086 to about $346, with oral GLP-1 starting doses announced at $150 a month if approved [1]. It also announced a $245 Medicare price for Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound, alongside a $50 monthly beneficiary copay and access for state Medicaid programs at the reduced prices [1].
Do the prices on TrumpRx match the November 2025 announcement?
Partly. TrumpRx.gov's listed starting prices are lower than the figures in the November 2025 fact sheet, for example the Wegovy pen at $199 a month rather than $350 [2][1]. That $199 covers a new patient's first two fills of the lowest doses; later fills are $349 a month [3]. As part of the same agreements, Novo Nordisk committed $10 billion and Eli Lilly committed at least $27 billion to U.S. manufacturing [1].
